Dr. Neha Rai is a skilled and compassionate Neurosurgeon with special expertise in Brain and Spine surgery, Parkinson’s Disease, and Movement Disorders. Trained at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, and currently practicing at Livasa Hospital, she offers advanced care for a wide range of neurological conditions—from complex brain tumors to spine diseases and neuromodulation therapies. She holds a Super-Specialization (DrNB) in Neurosurgery from the prestigious Jaslok Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. Prior to this, she earned her MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from Government Medical College, Patiala, Punjab, where she laid a strong foundation in surgical principles and patient care.

Dr. Rai has a keen interest and advanced training in Functional Neurosurgery, including Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, Essential Tremor & Dystonia. Her experience includes direct involvement in numerous DBS Surgeries during her tenure at Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, working closely with one of India’s most advanced and respected Functional Neurosurgery department.

She has been actively involved in clinical research and academic writing, particularly in the field of neuro-modulation and movement disorders. One of her key contributions includes a PUBMED-indexed article titled “Surgical and Hardware Complications of Deep Brain Stimulation: A Single-Surgeon Experience of 519 Cases Over 20 Years”, published in the International Neuromodulation Journal in 2021 and revised in 2022. This work received the Best Research Paper Award in the Original Research category in 2022 at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai.
Another significant publication is “Combined Motor Cortex and Spinal Cord Stimulation in Chronic Post-Stroke Pain and Neuropathic Pain”, which appeared in the Neuromodulation: Technology at the Neural Interface journal in October 2022.
In 2023, her case report on “Parkinsonism Hyperpyrexia Syndrome (PHS) Crisis Following Deep Brain Stimulator Battery Depletion” was published in the Annals of Neurology India.

She provides significant insights into the effectiveness of dance or music and meditation in improving the quality of life and slowing the progression of PD.
